Job Description

  • To report to work in good time, clean and wearing the correct uniform and demonstrate a high level of personal hygiene
  • To perform all tasks to a consistent and correct standard as per Standards of Operational Procedures Manual

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Welcome and greet all guests in a friendly, professional and sincere manner following company standards
  • Deal with complaints appropriately and report them to the supervisor on duty
  • Ensure all customer requests are responded to promptly and effectively
  • Be aware of any shortfalls in standards and bring them immediately to the attention of your supervisor or manager
  • Check the events happening in your department on a daily basis – plan ahead to assist the next shift
  • Know how to use all equipment and systems in you department
  • Clean as you go, ensuring both public areas are kept clean and tidy at all times. Ensure cleaning schedules are followed
  • Follow a logical order or service: understand the requirements of the shift so that guest is served quickly and affectingly
  • Attain a high level of product knowledge and price lists
  • Comply with the Rota system
  • Understand the aims of the hotel and your department
  • Put forward ideas for improving the hotel and encourage extra sales to guests at every opportunity
  • Prepare and present guest bills to hotel standard and be able to operate the POS system
  • Follow guidelines regarding the control of waste in your department
  • Be aware of security and lost property procedures and report anything suspicious to management
  • To promote a helpful image to clients and give full co-operation to any customer requiring assistance with out a prompt, caring and helpful attitude and to anticipate customer’s needs whenever possible, to enhance quality service and in turn enhance client satisfaction
  • To give full co-operation to any colleagues requiring assistance in a friendly and helpful manner
  • To maintain effective communication within the team and to attend departmental, hotel meetings and training sessions when required
    • To ensure a complete knowledge of food and beverage service techniques, all menus, drinks lists and specialties offered in the restaurant and served to correct standards
    • To positively promote sales awareness within the department and maximise sales opportunities
    • To assist in controlling all operation costs
    • To cover for Night Waiter / Waitress when required
    • To carry out water duties as per Rota
    • To carry out any duty reasonably requested by the management and to be flexible in assisting around the hotel in response to business needs
